Are you the type of person who has bigger eyes than your stomach? Here are some easy daily tips to follow that will make the scale lighter.

Plate size or optic illusion?

If you used to eat a lot, try to eat in smaller plates like dessert ones for example. Your quantities will then be limited and you will think that there’s more inside the plate. Visually, your brain will have the information saying that the plate is full, without thinking that there’s a lot less than usual. After changing the plate size, your eating and satiety signals will be improved.

Leave the last bite behind

Yes, we all thought that wasting is bad, and that’s a realtiy. But, your health comes first: so, to eat less, take the habit not to finish your plate or your sandwich, and leave the last bite. Then you will not have the impression of wasting for only one bite… and on a yearly basis, you will see the difference on your scale!

Used to snack between meals? Drink instead!

You’re hungry, you’re thirsty, you don’t really know. Usually, those two sensations are mixed up. But, from now, when you’re hungry, don’t eat and go for a nice glass of water, a cup of tea or even a natural – fruit based – infusion. This will help regulate you food intakes.

Cook adapted quantities

Nowadays, we are always scared of not having enough food on the table, but it’s wrong. During family dinners, it’s the traditional pre-starter – starter – main course – cheese – dessert. Try to limit as much each quantitie and be careful not to eat to much. If you have some leftovers, freeze them for later in the week but don’t force yourself to finish everything!

Don’t go to the grocery shop with an empty stomach!

The trap by going grocery shopping with an empty stomach? Well, simply buying products with lots of fats and sugar that you will want at this particular moment. And when you’ll arrive home you will have junk food all over the place and be tempted… So, next time you go shopping be sure to have eaten before: you will buy more healthy products, and of course you won’t be tempted by junk food!
