Between lice, colds and other diseases, there are numerous hazards facing your children during their early school years which is why parents are forever buying medicine! So, isn’t it time to look for a more natural and less expensive solution for long term cures?
The essential oils mentioned below are suitable for children from 3 years old and upwards, however, you should always perform a skin patch test on your child’s elbow to make sure he/she doesn’t suffer any adverse reaction. Whichever essential oil you choose, we advise you to consult your doctor beforehand. And finally, remember that you should never apply a pure oil to a child: it should always be diluted beforehand. Each essential oil is used in a different way, so read the leaflet before use.
By following the following tips, you’ll hopefully be able to prevent or even heal your child in a more natural way before the arrival of spring.
Incredibly contagious, lice should be treated as soon as they appear, or even as a prevention.
After appearance: Apply two drops of tea tree essential oil behind your child’s ears for up to 21 days. This oil is very effective: anti-parasite, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, as a mouthwash, in direct application or orally (in adults) …Whichever way you take it, it’s a must!
If lice are very numerous, you can mix tea tree and true essential lavender oil by diluting them in a vegetable oil up to 10%. Put all your child’s hair in a hair mask, from the roots to the tips, and leave it for 15 minutes before washing normally with shampoo. The mask avoids the need to use anti-lice chemicals and in addition, it nourishes the hair, especially if you use an oil such as coconut or olive.
For lice prevention, you can mix two to three drops of essential oil with a dose of shampoo in each shower.
Inhalations can be an effective way of combatting the symptoms of colds. To reduce their intensity, pour a few drops of tea tree or eucalyptus radish essential oil in a bowl of hot water (3 to 5 drops depending on the volume of water). Breathe in the vapours (or get them to breathe it in) for 5-10 minutes with a towel over the head, several times a day.
Against pollen or other frequent allergens, tansy can be very effective (however you should get a medical opinion first if your child is under 6). This natural antihistamine should be diluted in vegetable oil with one drop of essential oil to 10 drops of vegetable oil. Apply to the forearms for a maximum period of one week.
